Our end of year craft

For about a week now team twelve have been working on our owl's. The first thing that we did was we practised doing the running stitch. Once we thought we were good at doing the running stitch we moved on to the whip stitch.After that we got two of our body's. Then we gathered all of the material for our beaks, legs, eyes, wings, and legs. We then sewed all of our things on. When we were finished. that we did the running stitch on the top and sides. Then we stuffed our owl's. Lastly we whip stitched the bottom. I had a lot of fun making owl's.

Team 12's topic for this term is "from paddock to palate".  To learn more about our topic we went on a trip to Miss Workman's farm.  When we arrived we went to go find a place to sit in the paddock.  After that we had a look at the milking shed. I found out that when there is lots of noise the cow will pee or poo.  Next we got to taste some milk I loved the milk but some people didn't like it at all. After that we sat down and had a bit of morning tea. Then we had a look at the calves and the other cows.  When we had finished that we had lunch. Julie (Ariana and Brooke's mum) gave everyone some cake.  Lastly we had a fun gumboot throw.  Then we went back to Vardon. I had a lot of fun but one thing I didn't like was when I stood on a big pile of poo.  Other than that it was a blast on the farm.

High Jump

Room12 have been practising high jump for one week now.  The reason why we are doing high jump was because we need some practise for athletics.  Dianne has been a lot of help by giving us tips and setting the equipment up.  We have been using the scissor jump strategy. Each time we do high jump the bar gets higher. High jump is very hard for me but it's nice to have a challenge.  I have had a lot of fun doing high jump.  I hope you have a chance to do high jump:)

Juggling

Juggling

For about two weeks now room12 have been learning to juggle.  First we learnt to throw with  just one ball and practiced  how to throw it from side to side.  After we were really confident with one ball, we could move on with two balls.  So now we have been practicing lots with two balls.  I need to focus with not throwing the balls at the same time, and also throw the balls above my head.  I can't wait to start with three balls but for the meantime I need to keep practising with two balls.  I have had a lot of fun juggling.  I hope you get the chance to start learning to juggle.  It's a lot of fun:)  Click on the link above.

Term 4

This term I am looking forward to:

•  A trip to a diary farm which the Senior syndicate are doing for our topic
• Calender art for a calender
• Athletics when we all run,jump and throw
• Swim safe at water world
• Water world year 5 and 6 celebrate a good year
• Garage sale where there are lots of bargains in the hall
• End of year carol service where we donate presents
• Year 5 try out for road patrol where we might become a road patroler for next year
• Year 5 and 6 split when the year 5's make a gift for the year 6's

I can't wait for a fun term to come.

My spelling wordle

The blends spelling group have been learning about the long A spelling pattern.  First we got given a task, it was to come up with lots of long a spelling words then put them in the right column.  After that our spelling group had to go on the computer and type out all the words.   Then we pasted it on to wordle and chose our colour, layout, and font.  Lastly we embedded it on to our blog.  If you look up you will see my wordle.  Sorry it's blurry but you can click on it and it will go on Internet, and it wont be so blurry.

My photopeach on production

 On Wednesday the 12th and Thursday the 13th of September Vardon School did their Production.  Room12 acted their  part on air. It was really fun we performed our part with room 6 and 11.  They all  performed  a couple of songs, room 6 and 11 sang and danced to singing in the rain, room11and 6 did the car song and room12 danced to  a song called no air.  We also performed a couple more songs, I had a lot of fun doing production.  I also liked everbodys costumes.  If you look up you will see my photo peach on our production.

Paired writing

In room12 we have been doing paired writing for six weeks now.  Paired writing is when you work with a buddy to help and improve their writing.  I am a tutor and and my buddy is Corban.  Three things I have improved on are I can use full stops in the right place all the time, use capital letters at all times and I have made my stories more intresting.  I think Corban has really improved on doing his capital letters and he has made his stories more intresting each time we do paired writing.  One thing that has challenged me is coming up with new things to write.

Production

Three things I enjoyed were getting my face painted, going on stage and looking at the crowd.
Two feelings I felt were scared to go on stage because there were so many people watching.
Another feeling that I felt was happy to be in the finale because it was really fun.

One thing I felt was challenging was tyring not to complain it was freezing outside.

Room12 have been doing colour poems for the past week.  We had to start our poems off with one metaphor and three similies.  Our  three similies also had to relate to our one metaphor.  Here is my green colour poem.

Cross country

 
On Thursday the 25th of August the seniors went to Minogue park for our cross country.  I am 9 so I had to run around part of the park once.  The 9 year old GIRLS were FIRST and guess what I came 5th which was cool.  I had lots of fun doing cross country and even if I didn't come first I sure had fun!!!!

student led Interview

On Thursday the 30th I had my student led interview. My mum came with me it was really fun but I was really scared at first but then I was fine it was like reading to nobody. Three things I presented was my cats report, cross country goals and my I KAN results. Two things I am proud are I didn't make any mistakes and I am proud of being in team 12. 1 thing I could improve on is not getting sweaty.

Friesian sheep

The joy cowley's did a really cool project it was called Ewes for me. This project challenged me to do the best that I could do and prove to my teacher that I could do some good qaulity work. This project wasn't to hard but it wasn't to easy either Ireally enjoyed doing this project. The thing I have done well is taking care in my work because you can tell if you look at my work. My favourite thing was doing the poster.

Maths

On Thursday room 12 did maths. The porohita's are learning to use our 5 time tables to solve our 6 7 and eights and using our 10s to solve our 9s. Before I didn't understand but now I understand way better an example would be 7x7 you would split the7 to into 5 and 2 and the other 7 you would split into 4 and 3. So then you would go 5x7 then 2 x 7 plus them together and the answer is 49

Maori language week

Last week team 12 celebrated Maori Language Week.  We have buddies in room 4.  We made a body quiz for them.  We also learnt a Maori body song, it's really cool.  Then we had to teach them the song.  After that  we had to tell them what the name in English was.  Last but not lest we asked them where it was on their body.  I really enjoyed doing Maori but it was quit easy because I am part Maori and I know a bit about Maori Language

Term 3

This Term I am looking forward  to Wacky Olympics, Cross Country and Soccer.  I would like to improve on my Writing there four getting my pen licence.  I would also like to improve on my Reading.  One thing I want to do is get our 20 marbles so that we can do something cool.  

Speeches

About two weeks ago room 12 did speech's  I  did my speech on Alexander Fleming he discovered penicillin.  I think I did well on my eye contact.  Next time I need to do more walking around and more expression.  I got into the semi finals with 2 others, Melissa and  Emily.  Sadly I did not make it to the finals.  That's OK because I tried my best.  I really enjoyed speeches it was really fun:)

Maths

For the last 2 weeks the porohita's have been learning how to add and take away on a number line. The strategy is  a bit hard. We did a test on this strategy I did not get much right, but that's OK because I tried my best and that's the main thing isn't it.  This strategy was very fun but I hope I get more answers right next time.  An example would be 35 + 17 =52  so I would jump to 45 then 55 then I would take away 3 because  you are at 55 and you have to be at 52.  35+ 17 =52.

Team 12's Assembly

Last week my class team 12 had our Assembly.  It was very fun. My roles were a host and a Gallipoli landing troop. You have no clue how scared I was.  I was shaking like an erupting volcano but I'm stilll alive anyway getting back to our assembly.  My favourite part was when the soliders were training, the soliders
  had to listen to the sargents yell at them.   After our Assembly we got a yummy cupcake. I enjoyed our assembly it was so much fun.

Remembrance

 For about 2 weeks now room12 have been learning about Remembrance.  For example one thing that has to do with remembrance is ANZAC.  We have been learning lots about ANZAC it is very interesting for me.  We have also been learning some Gallipoli slang and  I think an example is in war they call a smoke a smoko and lots more.  We also made some wreaths  the poppy's represent ANZAC and the soldiers who died at war  we made them with a group.  We needed to draw some Poppy's then we cut them out and glued the Poppy's on the wreaths.  I loved doing remembrance I hope  I get to do it again.

Gym sports

On Monday room12 did Gym Sports. It was so fun, it was my first time. Room12 had to go around in a circuit. We were mostly practicing our landings. A good trick to remember when landing is to land like you're on a bike. Put your hands on the bars and hold for 3 seconds. My favourite activity was the beat board. I loved doing gym sports:)

Roman Numerals

For the last 2 weeks room 12 been has been working on Roman Numerals. The porohita maths group had to work with 2 or 3 people. We first had to do a draft in someones maths book. After that Me ,Melissa and Kayla did our good copy it took a while. Then we got to share our poster in front of our maths group. Finally we took a photo and a video of it and we were done.

My reading project

This is my reading project. I've been working so hard on it. Every night when I've come home from school I've been head down, no playing like a kids meant to do. It's hard to understand but it's been kind of fun and hey it's better to be done than not done right? :) Any way time for some real info.

The first thing we had to do was state 5 facts about each of the energy sources (hydro, solar, biomass, nuclear, tidal, coal and gas. That was hard but we had to do 5 other activities and guess what we don't have to hand it into until Wednesday the 5th so of course I'm just so prepared like that:)

Senior Swimming Sports

On your mark, get set, go! On Thursday the 8th of March all of the Senior Syndicate did swimming sports. It was so fun we did all kinds of strokes like breaststroke , freestyle and lots more. After we had done the strokes we had the relay team and guess what room12 won yay! Then we had to race the teachers and the parents! We also won so I was very happy:)I had a very fun time at swimming Sports.

Warm and cold colours

In room12 we have been learning about warm and cold colours and what group they belong in.So for example ORANGE RED BLUE and GREEN are in what family an easy way I remember is I think that ORANGE is the colour of fire so its a warm colour and red is also the colour of fire. BLUE is the colour of water so it's a cold colour and GREEN is cold because it's the colour of grass.After we had learned about warm and cold colours we did our desk mats we had to choose a cold colour for our name and a warm colour for the background. we also did warm and cold colours for our learning log and our home learning book.With learning about warm and cold colours was very fun.
